Chelsea Reviews: Lemon Pound Cake by Eat Me Guilt Free

May 16, 2016

I’m a big fan of dessert, better choices, and protein.  When all of those things come together into a beautiful harmony, well it makes for one happy chica.  While perusing Instagram as part of my nightly bedtime routine, I came across some images of delicious protein brownies and cakes by Eat Me Guilt Free.  I just had to get my hands on some and it wasn’t long before I was tearing open a package I received that had several flavors to choose from.  Today I will focus on the Lemon Pound Cake.

Taste: The balance of lemon flavor was just right in this tasty little protein cake.  If there was a perfect cross between a slice of lemon pound cake from Starbucks and a healthy little protein cake with very low sugar, this would be it.  Included in the ingredients are dehydrated lemon rinds which I feel give it the perfect little kick of lemon with each bite.

Texture:  Light and airy, there is just enough crumble in this lemon pound cake.  There was no gooey or sticky feelings as I ate this treat.  The recommended shelf-life of the cakes from Eat Me Guilt Free is 4 weeks, with an additional 2 weeks added with refrigeration and 4 more with freezing.

The Bottom Line:

I enjoyed the flavor profile and texture of the Lemon Pound Cake from Eat Me Guilt Free.  I’m a girl who lives for chocolate desserts most of the time, but it was a refreshing step out of my sweet-tooth norm with this cake.  The nutritional details are solid, especially the very low amount of carbs/sugar.  If you every attempted to make the perfect mug cake at home and failed miserably, just save yourself some strife and buy some brownies and cakes from this company.
